Color Correction

Postby JeffLaPenna » 27 Jul 2015, 19:48

Hi there,

Does anyone know the best workflow for color correction movie files from the Theta? I've tried a few methods and have failed. Here's where I'm at so far:

- download file from theta
- convert native file to pro-res so I can bring it into Davinci Resolve
- bring file into Resolve, color correct, export as pro-res
- bring pro-res corrected file into Compressor and convert to h.264 14.99fps 12.52 bitrate (trying to mimic native file format settings)

When I try to then bring the file into the Theta app for spherical conversion I get this error:

"Failed to convert video(VCPE0000001, VCP)

Anyone have any ideas as to how to get the color corrected file to be accepted by the app?
If not, is there a better workflow for color correction?

Thanks in advance!

I think you need to add the meta data back into the file.

The Theta app is made to convert from the "Dualfish"-format to equirectangular projection. Nothing else. But after conversion it adds RDF-Metadata to signal that this is an equirectangular spherical video. You need to add this metadata to your final video, too.

There's a tool from YouTube to add the metadata.
