Ricoh Theta S 4K Firmware Update

Postby Nitroman » 26 May 2016, 07:58

I love the two lens thin design of my Ricoh Theta S and the stills are pretty decent quality ... But the 1080p video sucks. :o

Is there a chance that we could get a firmware update to allow 30 second bursts of 4k video ?

I concur. But not sure if it's physically possible with the lenses the Theta S uses? If it can be achieved, then why the hell not? Video quality is the biggest downfall of this awesomely user-friendly device.

I don't think the lenses are a problem ... the stills images look great at over 5k. :)

Please Ricoh let us know your thoughts as the 1080p video quality just won't cut the mustard now with the competition.

I heard it was the processor chip inside that was the weak link

Yes, it would be awesome if this camera would be able to video capture at 4k.

Is there any official Ricoh Theta information about this ? Or will we all have to wait until the next model ? If so, when is this likely to be released - six months, a year, two years ?!
