[Feature Request] 5K video time lapse

Postby EwoutH » 28 Jun 2016, 15:03

Dear Ricoh,

The still quality in the Theta S is great. The video quality however, not so much. I understand that higher resolutions are not possible at 30fps due to the lack of processing power, but wat if we could film with just 2fps (and lower) in 5K (or at least 4k). This time-lapse video feature, used in Pentax DSLR's, Panasonic camera's, GoPro's and many other camera's just takes every 0.5, 1, 2, 5 or even more seconds a picture, and renders that in an 30fps or 60fps MP4 (H.264) movie file. It's just filming with low fps, which can create beautiful time-lapses in small file sizes and with very little pressure on the processor.

Not only would it make an outstanding feature for Theta S, it would also show that you are actively listening to you community and supporting your camera's for a long period. That creates trust and loyalty and gives the Theta S itself an edge over the competitors like the Gear 360.

I hope you can intergrate this feature in the Theta S in a future firmware update :).

Timelapses are already an option through the Ricoh Theta S app. At the highest resolution, it can do one frame every eight seconds.

yes, but that would be nice option - if there a limitations to get a desire framerate by lowering down resolution.

Thanks for the update about the video editor which is the best one for use. The number of video editing tools you can use for editing any quality of the video. Would like to share this https://www.assignmentholic.co.uk/ website link to everyone for learning new things.
